Description:
Two consecutively numbered Colt Army Special Revolvers in 32-20 W. C. F., both have both double action or single action. Serial numbers are 589757 and 589758. Both revolvers have bright shiny bores throughout. Grips appear to be original with no chips or scratches and sharp goooves..
589757 is 95% condition with very light cylinder ring, light muzzle holster wear. 589758 is 85% condition with heavier cylinder ring and holster wear. Cylinders are tight with no slopyness.
Colt Archives letter shows shipped in 1934.
The Army Special was built on the medium frame size, and would be the basis of every medium framed Colt revolver made iup to the Colt Python.
Among the revolvers that were based on the Army Special were the Official Police, the various Officer's Model target revolvers, the original Trooper, and the Python.
Serial numbers for the Army Special picked up where the New Army & Navy left off, with the first Army Special numbers at 291000.
The Army Special/Official Police was made virtually unchanged from 1908 to 1969.
