Description:
OCTAGON BARREL Long Rifle .45 Caliber w ENGRAVED LEBEDA of Prague CZ Lock

Lock Made by Gunmaker to Czech Royalty

Here we present a very attractive Long Rifle with an Engraved & Gold Inlaid Lebeda Lock, the lock made circa 1840 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The Lebeda family were gunmakers since Antonin Vinzenc Lebeda left the family farm to apprentice in Prague from the age of 12 to 18, circa 1807. He opened his own shop circa 1820 and soon became world renowned, starting with his country’s royalty. He advanced the technology of the time, holding multiple patents, and his guns were known as much for the artistry as for their precision of manufacture. It is truly hard to believe that this was done without the convenience of modern machinery.

This rifle features a 42 inch long octagonal barrel with a .45 caliber bore. Double set triggers. Elaborately cast brass trigger guard. The stock is furnished with a very large patchbox.

The overall condition is good. The bore is coated in thick dust with sharp rifling apparent underneath. The action remains strong.

Barrel is 42 inches.

Caliber: .45

Overall condition as seen in photos.
