*MODEL: 1873 Second Model Sporting Rifle, made in 1892
*CALIBER: .32-20
*BARREL: 22" Octagon
*ACTION: Lever
*SIGHTS: Adjustable buckhorn rear
STOCK: Straight-grip Walnut stock with plain forearm, and metal cresent butt plate.
FINISH: Bluing on barrel, and receiver has turned gray. Metal on receiver shows some pitting. Barrel has some small nicks and light corrison.
WOOD: Stock has turned a dark brown due to age with some scratches from handling. No cracks or deep gouges. Metal Star inlay on butt stock.
BORE: Light frost, good rifling
MECHANICS: Good lever action , strong hammer.
ASSESSMENT: Rifle appears to have been cut down from a 24" barrel to be made into a carbine/ short rifle. I would rate this rifle in Good condition.
