Description:
This little rifle is the less encountered variant of the Winchester model 1906, refered to as the EXPERT. This configuration features the semi-pistol grip stock and a swelled forend. It will shoot the 22 s, l, and lr cartdridge interchangeably. The expert model was only offered from 1918 - 1924 in 3 levels of trim from all blued, to half nickel, to full nickel. The blued variation is the most common, then the half nickel, with the full nickel being the rarest. This gun has been professionally restored to become an excellent example of this model. We started with an excellent base rifle, that was free of oxidation to the metal and had a great bore. The gum wood stocks were in great shape to start with as well, with only a few surface marks, and the original varnish mostly intact, but flaking. Nearly all the script was preserved, with only light polishing required, and the correct rust blued finish added. The action operates as it should, and the gun takes down and reassembles easily, and tightly. The sight package is correct on the 20" barrel, and the bore is excellent. The only wear evident on this piece is on the butt plate, which could be replaced with an after markrt one. This gun will fill that "hard to find" spot in your collection, and you won't have to wory about taking her out hunting and plinking.
