Description:
This is a spectacular all-original Smith & Wesson Model 34-1 revolver in .22 rimfire.   Manufactured circa 1975, this Model 34-1 features a gloss blue factory finish and a 4" inch barrel.  The Smith & Wesson Model 34 or "Kit Gun" was manufactured from 1953 until 1991, and was one of the firm's most successful .22 rimfire revolvers.  This 6-shot double-action revolver was offered with a 2" or 4" inch barrel on a round or square butt "J" frame, and was offered in a factory gloss blue or bright nickel finish.  The Model 34 came with checkered Walnut grips and went thru 2 engineering changes during the production run.  The Model 34 quickly earned a reputation with shooters and hunters as being a very reliable, accurate, and well-made revolver in a compact size that was easy to carry afield.  This particular example has lived a VERY easy life and appears to have been carried and fired very, very little.  The beautiful gloss blue finish is bright and clean, rating 97 to 98% with the only deductions coming from a few tiny spots of prior surface rust.  The worst of these spots is on the left side of the barrel near the muzzle, and as you can see from the pictures, it does not stick out as an eyesore or do much to diminish the extremely clean overall look of the gun.  The bore in the 4" inch barrel is mirror-bright and pristine, with sharp rifling and no visible imperfections.  The 6 cylinder bores are equally as pristine.  The factory case-colored hammer and trigger are in excellent condition, showing no finish wear and bright colors all over both parts.  The original checkered Walnut grips are like-new, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear.  The checkering is still clean and crisp, and both grips are tight to the gun with no wiggle.  The right side grip is numbered to the gun and the left side is un-numbered, which is 100% correct.  The action on this Model 34-1 is smooth and in perfect time.  The action locks up tight and the trigger breaks with a light pull.  All of the controls on this Smith & Wesson are in 100% working order, and this Model 34-1 should shoot just as well today as the day it left the factory.  If you have been looking for an investment-quality S&W Model 34 for your collection here is your chance to get an all-original beauty.
