Description:
Original East India Co flintlock dated 1811. This is a lock from the 3rd model Bess (Windus's Pattern Musket. There were approx. 676,800 built for the East India Co and 2,800.000, for the board of Ordnance. This example is mounted with the ring neck cock that replaced the swan neck cock in 1813. See pages 58-59 "small Arms of the East India Co. 1600-1856 Vol II by D.F. Harding . This lock is sound, shows the standing Lion, 1811 date, and inspectors mark. This example shows light pitting or staining and is all original and mechanically sound.
