Custom 98 Mauser in 257 Roberts. This gun is as new and has no blemishes or marks on it at all. It was built by a friend of mine who has since passed away. He started with the action and jeweled the bolt and action. He custom made the bolt handle and installed a new 20" barrel. I believe that he used a Hart barrel. He then made a custom stock with the beaded cheekpiece, checkered steel butt plate and grip cap. It has a timney trigger also. I had him add an ebony forend tip to really set it off. He hand checkerd the stock and his wife does the final work and it took a month to do a hand rubbed oil finish. The gun as it sits weighs 7lbs 2 oz. This couple made custom guns for a hobby and at one time I had 4 of them. They also used to do refinishing work on guns and their workmanship is second to none. This is the last one that I have as I am selling off some of my gun collection. I have used it to hunt whitetails and have taken 3 one shot kills. It handles beautifully but I just don't use it anymore. You would have to pay 3 to 4 times as much for a custom gun like this and it wouldn't be as nice.
