It was inspected by Capt. Stanhope E. Blunt. The Ordnance sub-inspector is Rinaldo A. Carr. Kopec could not locate this serial number in the national archives, but suspects it was possibly issued to Troop K. 8th Cavalry. He also states that based on the condition it might have been issued to a state militia unit, probably California or New York. As you can see in the pictures, this is a nice piece. Notice the Kopec letter mentions the hammer and cylinder pin were not original. Each is now correct. I do have the Kopec letter and the Colt Archives letter. This revolver is 100% correct. The finish is 100% original. A lot of original blue remains. As you will see, a very nice amount of original case color remains as well. ALL markings are clear, complete, and correct, including the inspector marks. Grips are excellent and fit perfectly. Cartouches on both stocks are excellent. Bore in the 7 1/2" barrel is bright and shiny. It will rate an eight on a one to ten scale. No issues. Action works perfectly and is crisp. Lock-up is tight. The last picture shows an original cavalry holster. It is in excellent conditon and is included. This Colt Single Action Army Cavalry is highly collectible. Condition is much better than many you will see. It will make a great addition to any collection. American Arms & Antiques item #2529. Please contact me for more pictures.
