Personal Check with hold Description: This is a very nice collectible "SMITH & WESSON SCHOFIELD" Revolver. Comes with Smith & Wesson Archive Letter. Serial #5240 MFG. 1876-1877, serial number matches on butt and cylinder. Inpector's marks "E" and "P" found in several areas. Total produced 5,934. 7" Barrel .45 S&W Scofield Caliber. Has a nice bright bore . Marked "Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass USA" and various patent dates on left side of barrel, and "Schofield's Pat. Apr. 22nd 1873" on the right side. Standard military issue revolver with inspectors marks on various parts and "U.S". on butt . There are military cartouches on each side of the grips with an 1876 date. Back of right grip panel has "4897" marked on it. The total contract was 5,285. The revolver has smooth metal with several areas of original blue, and areas that have turned gray. The action is crisp and the cylinder locks up tight and indexes properly. The walnut grips are nice. The second model S&W Schofield's were manufactured for the cavalry and most saw hard use and many were cut down later and used by Wells Fargo. This is a very nice example, that is in it's original configurationes with a S&W Archive Letter. . Buyer Pays $20.00 shipping to the lower 48 states.
