This is a Sig Sauer model P228 in 9mm. The quintessential 'fed' gun as it was issued by almost every US federal agency from the 1980s till the wide spread adoption of the Sig Sauer P229 in .40 caliber. The P228 is the compact version of the full size Sig Sauer P226, a high capacity double/single action with patented three part safety. This is a nice example of P228 and it retains most of its original Sig 'Nitron" finish with only some minor holster marks on the slide and front edges of the frame. It comes with one double stack 13 round box magazine and is fitted with a one piece wrap-around Hogue rubber grip. It is West German manufactured and has all the proper proof marks. It functions flawlessly with a tight lockup and a nice crisp trigger break. The West German produced Sigs are considered to be the hight of production quality and are highly prized by shooters. This would make a fantastic high capacity, top quality carry firearm for someone looking for the best in modern handgun technology.
