Description:
This is an incredibly rare pistol, the Norwegian-made Kongsberg Model 1914 .45 ACP pistol made for the German occupation forces in Norway during WW2, otherwise known as the "Nazi 1911".  This particular variation with the WaA84 Waffenamt on the slide was only made for one year in 1945 prior to the war ending, with only 935 of them manufactured in total.  The known examples are all in the serial number range of 29621 to 30523.  The story of the Nazi 1911 began in April of 1940 when a daring air-ground-sea Blitzkrieg was launched against Norway by Nazi Germany.  The Norwegian Military was totally taken by surprise, and the German Military, with the help of the famous Norwegian traitor Quisling, made short work of them in just a few weeks of fighting.  In May, a combined British, French, and Polish force tried to take and hold Narvik in Northern Norway.  Fierce naval battles ensued in the narrow fjords of Narvik which the Germans won, and by June of 1940 all of Norway was under German occupation.  Prior to the German invasion, the Norwegian Military Model 1914 (a slightly modified copy of the 1911) was being made under license by Kongsberg Vaponfabrik in Norway from 1917 until 1939.  There were a little more than 22,000 of them manufactured and in service at the time of the invasion.  Many of these guns were turned over to the Germans upon surrender, and reissued to the Norwegian forces loyal to Quisling.  The occupying Germans made use of the Kongsberg Vaponfabrik by having the firm continue to make the Model 1914 from 1941 until 1942, with 7,288 pistols manufactured during this period and delivered to the German forces.  These 1941 and '42 guns were not German proofed.  By 1945, the German occupation forces needed more handguns and with weapons production in Germany getting worse by the day, once again turned to Kongsberg Vaponfabrik to have them build more Model 1914's, although this time there would be German Military inspectors in the factory.  The factory managed to turn out a total of 935 of these Waffenamt-inspected pistols before Germany lost the war and had to abandon Norway.  This 1945-dated Model 1914 is in great shape inside and out.  It is 100% original and all-matching, with many of the small parts numbered with the last 3 digits of the serial number.  The factory original parkerized finish is in excellent condition overall, showing only some very minor high-edge and grip-strap wear, rating 95% plus.  The factory case-colored hammer is excellent, showing lots of bright color with 95% coverage.  All of the factory markings are crisp and clear, and both of the German proofs including the Waffenamt on the left side of the slide and the firing proof on the left side of the barrel lug are clean and very visible.  The bore in the original barrel is excellent, mirror-bright inside and showing sharp rifling throughout the bore.  There is no visible pitting or erosion in the bore.  The original checkered hardwood grips are in very good condition overall, with a lot of the original black paint still intact that the factory applied when it was built in 1945.  The checkering is still clean and both grip panels are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents.  The action on this German Occupation Model 1914 is slick and smooth, and when the slide is in battery the barrel locks up tight with no slop.  The frame to slide fit is excellent, and all of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order.  There is no doubt that this .45 ACP Model 1914 would function today 100% like the day it left the factory in 1945.  This rare gun comes complete with one original magazine, unmarked and parkerized with a lanyard loop on the floorplate.  The magazine is in excellent condition just like the pistol itself.  If you have been looking for a true "centerpiece"-type pistol for your WW2 weapons collection you would be hard-pressed to find a something any cooler or rarer than this, a totally-correct and original Waffenamt-stamped Norweigan Model 1914.  This Nazi occupation .45 is one of the ultimate WW2 German handguns and this example would be all but impossible to upgrade.
