Description:
General Specs: Lefever, Year 1905, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 5oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number:  53211

Most who pursue Classic American Double shotguns are aware that Lefever Arms Co. of Syracuse, N.Y. produced some very elegant shotguns.  The first of the prominent American double gun manufacturers to close its doors, Lefever produced relatively few fine doubles; in the range of 60.000 guns.  Mr. Elliot’s book “Uncle Dan Lefever—Master Gunmaker” notes there were very few higher grade 16ga. or 20ga. Lefevers produced.  There were only about 800 hundred made as the E Grade in 16ga., and less than a few hundred with Krupp Steel barrels.   Low production, classic double indeed!  This stunning Lefever, sn53211 built in 1905, has been fully restored by Bachelder Master Gunmakers and remains in 99% condition with all historically correct finishes.  The 28” Krupp Steel barrels have excellent bores, tight ribs, and are tight on the joint and breech face.  This 16-bore is built on the 20ga. frame size, as indicated by the “double x” on the frame and illustrated in Elliot’s book on page 129.  The engraving is artfully done, the scroll is exceptional, and the graceful sculpting of the frame is not found on all E Grades and is a very nice touch.  This is a collectable, investment quality gun that is a joy to carry and shoot as well, weighing just 6 1/4lbs. and in perfect mechanical condition.  What a rare and gorgeous vintage American double ready for field or sporting clays.  These fine E Grade 16’s on the 20ga. frame do not come up often, so don’t hesitate or she will be gone!  Thanks for looking.
