Description:
General Specs: Iver Johnson, Year 1933-35, .410 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, LOP 14", DAH 2 7/8", DAC 1 3/4"
Serial Number: 2218E

In the world of vintage American doubles, the .410 bore has always been highly sought after and costly.  Of the big 5 makers, only Ithaca, Parker, and L.C. Smith produced the .410, and then in miniscule numbers.  To purchase one of the above guns in .410 bore and good factory original condition, the price tag starts at $5000 and in the case of the Parker, exceeds $20,000!  And that is for the plain jane field grades.  Enter the Iver Johnson Skeeter with its highly figured walnut, ivory bead, standard beavertail forend, and a .410 specific "baby frame" and you have the best deal in the marketplace for an American .410 double.  The Skeeter was known to be an extremely well made, stoutly built gun that won many national championships and was coveted by the likes of famous shooters Capt. E.C. Crossman and Major Charles Askins.   Skeeters won more skeet championships than any other .410 double shotgun in history!  Skeeters were produced only from 1933 to 1942, with about 1200 in all gauges and only about 500 in .410, so they are scarce guns with a grand history as competitive shooters, and now are investment quality collector/shooters that continue to go up in value as you enjoy taking game and breaking targets with this gorgeous little .410.  This gun, sn2218E made around 1935, is in remarkable factory original condition, with 97% metal finishes.  It has the very desirable option of ejectors…an option not often encountered.  The wood has been lightly cleaned up (not restored), as the finish on these guns crinkled over time.  Shooting skeet with this gun is a ton of fun, and with its high rib and beavertail forend you do not see the barrels at all.  It is like shooting an over/under as far as the sight picture goes.  It is very hard to find these guns with ORIGINAL FACTORY CONDITION, EJECTORS, and an uncut, full length stock (we can bend the stock to your specs for $200 or so) so this is a very desirable gun that is a joy to shoot.  The 3" chambers make it a capable field gun as well.  Thanks for looking!
