Description:
Serial #6020g, 8mm Mauser (Patrone “S"), 17" barrel with a very good bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1893 dated, “S" and punch dot marked carbine that has an overall mottled, armory bright patina on the receiver, and a slightly more brown-gray patina on the matching numbered bolt. The barrel has about 50-60% of the original blue remaining and the balance streaked to a mottled gray-brown. The front sight “ears" have been removed, and a modern brass sporting front sight has been added. The walnut stock rates very good with an old, added oil finish over some minor handling marks and small blemishes, as well as a with-the-grain crack at the left side of the nosecap. This is a very good example of a desirable Model 1888 Carbine overall, chambered for the later Spitzer bullet. Antique
