Excellent working looks like an 1862 Navy 36 cal, as the left side of the trigger guard is marked .36 cal. now converted to .38 rim, with a 4 1/2" octagonal barrel much blue remaining, and the barrel has raised speckles from storage, and a readable Colt address. Action is crips, and the original grips have much surface finish but wear to the bottom edges from being carried in a holster.. These were originally percussion pistols, converted in the 1870's and most were nickle plated at that time.Serial match.. All serial number are 17786, except the trigger guard is 17736 a mistake at the factory..?Very clean patent dates on the left side of the frame. Barrel has a brass bead front sigth which is correct..Overall an interesting revolvler from the Western Americana days! Check my inventory of rare grips, unusual gun parts, barrels and holsters.
