Description:
SOLD A rare English officers flint lock fusil with a 39" long barrel chambered for the .68 caliber ball. The exterior metal on the barrel has very fine roughness and evident that the surface was cleaned with a wire brush from long term storage. These muskets were private purchase for English officers, and this one is made by Barnett of London, and often they went to colonial nations for duty, possibly to India, Africa, Australia, etc.
This pattern looks to be about 11830's as it has Queen Victoria proofs, and a crown over V on the left breech side of the barrel. The European hardwood is very good and has a wood brand from the vendor on the back edge of the butt-stock. Lock works good, and the top jaw screw looks like a replacement, The iron ram-rod looks like for a later model.Brass screws used instead of sling swivels. Overall a true officer purchased fusil. An officers fusil was normally a shorter , light gun than the issue enlisted man's musket.Check my inventory of rare grips, unusual gun parts, barrels and holsters.
