HIGH CONDITION EARLY 1894 .38-55 OCTAGON RIFLE, #56XXX. Very difficult to find such an early rifle in such fine condition. This rifle shows excellent deep blue on the barrel with buckhorn rear and Winchester blade front sights. The mag tube blue is evenly thinning with a fine appearance. The receiver shows deep blue on the side panels, receiver ring and bolt with gray/brown mixing toward the edges and upper tang. Best of all, the bore is bright and excellent with sharp rifling. Excellent forend and stock with tight wood to metal fit and only a couple of typical hairline stress cracks coming back from the receiver in the wrist area that you have to look carefully to see and go nowhere. Tight action, excellent markings, desirable caliber and great appearance overall.
