The Winchester Model 1892 Rifle was made from 1892 to 1941, with approximately 1,000,000 manufactured. This rifle is fitted with a 24 inch octagon barrel, full length tube magazine, open sights, and chambered in either .25-20 WCF, .32-20 WCF, .38-40 WCF, or .44-40 WCF. This 1914 vintage Model 1892 rifle is as described and is chambered in .38-40 WCF. The gun is in excellent original condition, with the barrel and tube magazine retaining 95% of their original blue finish and the frame approximately 70% of its original finish, with most loss due to flaking. The lever, hammer, and butt-plate retain approximately 80% of its original blue finish. The original blue finish is bright, and the metal is smooth and free of pitting. The bore is in pristine condition, with strong rifling and zero pittng or corrosion, . The action is tight and functions perfectly. The stock and forearm retain most all of their original finishes, with assorted handling marks, more so on the stock. The sights are in excellent condition, with the rear functioning like new. The screw heads are mostly un-molested, including the very small rear sight screw. We see very few 1892 Winchester rifles in this condition much less with a perfect bore and chambered in 38-40. An excellent example of it's type.
