Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1948, .410 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Chokes Skeet, LOP 14"
Serial Number: 67489

The Model 42 is an icon in the ranks of Winchester firearms, made in the days of the highest quality control and hand fitted parts.  The Model 42 was a flawlessly produced little pump gun, chambered only for the diminutive .410 shotgun shell.  In the 30 years of production that ran from 1933 to 1963, almost 160,000 of these fine guns were produced.  A very large percentage were Field Grade guns, and there were also Skeet Grades, Trap Grades, Deluxe Grades, and rarely a Pigeon Grade.  There were just over 5000 Skeet Grades ever produced, or about 3% of total production.  That makes a Model 42 Skeet Grade a scarce gun, especially with highly figured wood and high condition.  The Skeet Grade can be identified by a “Skeet” style forend, checkered grip and forend, usually nicer wood, and most produced before 1954 had a solid rib barrel.  This fine Winchester M42 SKEET GRADE, sn67489 made in1948, is untouched and original in every way.  It is a special-order Skeet Grade with exceptional 3X figured wood and a 26” solid rib skeet choked barrel making this a very desirable gun.  Even better is the condition of this gun, which is factory original, untouched, 99% barrel and receiver blue with only slight wear on the hard edges and only a few tiny handling marks in the wood.  This IS NOT A RESTORED GUN, but a factory original Model 42.  Look the photos over closely and you will see one of the nicest looking Model 42 Skeet grades on the market today.  Of course, everything Winchester will always be collectible, and values will continue to climb, as they are not being made any longer.  Rarity and condition drives value, and this gun has plenty of both, so don’t miss out.  Thanks for looking!
