Allen Tooled Leather Gunbelt Rig, .45 Cal, mfg. 1898 with 5 1/2" barrel. This entire set was outfitted for Cowboy Action Shooting and is about as good as it gets. The revolver is an authentic antique first generation Colt with matching serial numbers on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap. The barrel and cylinder are second generation Colt replacements. The frame and hammer have faded to gray with very faint mottled traces of case color visible while the remainder of the gun shows 70% thinned blue. The antique Ivory grips have been fitted to this gun and have a beautiful mellow color with no chips or cracks. The fit and finish is perfect. Original hammer, trigger, loading gate, screws, and ejector assembly complete with brass spring. The sighting notch on the frame has been opened slightly and matches up perfectly with the full blade front sight. Clear original serial numbers, rampant horse marking, and patent dates with original second generation barrel address and model/caliber designation. The action has been tuned by expert gunsmith Bob James and is impeccably smooth. James is well known for his flawless actions and this gun speaks to that truth. Perfect bore with bright and sharp rifling front to back. Accompanying the gun is an impressive hand tooled leather double loop holster and money belt/gun belt by J. R. Allen of Carroll County, Georgia. Allen is regarded as one of the best contemporary makers of authentic Western era gun leather and his work is highly sought after. The previous owner spent $800 on this rig alone. The belt is a size 44 and features a Nickel buckle with an open center for storing coins etc.. while the tooled double loop holster features a soft leather liner and a plugged bottom. A clean and expertly prepared antique Colt that will make a fantastic shooter! *NOTE: Due to Ivory restrictions this revolver will not be sold or shipped to residents of California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington.* Jeremiah Johnson Trading sells antique firearms manufactured prior to 1899 and muzzleloading blackpowder reproductions only.
