Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1925, 12 Gauge, 8lbs, Chokes IC/LM, LOP 14 5/8", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: RE77879

In the world of L.C. Smith shotguns built after 1912, the Specialty is a well-appointed gun, with generous engraving, nicely figured wood, finely checkered, and equal to a Grade 3 gun of other makers, ie DH Parker, C Grade Fox, etc.  They made over 4800 guns in Specialty Grade 12ga., so they are not rare, but not profuse either.  But this gun, serial number RE77879 built in 1925, is special.  They only made about 10% of the vintage American double guns with English style stocks, so look at about 500 guns.  Add the highly desirable 32” barrels with reinforced forend lug and trap-style beavertail forend and you have a really sought-after vintage sporting clays gun.  Choked IC/M and weighing 8lbs. with these features and you can really be competitive on the clays course or shoot heavy loads at upland birds.  The mechanics on the gun are excellent, with great screws, well-timed ejectors, and the action locks up tight with the lever just right of center.  The wood is in great shape with no cracks, excellent checkering and dimensions.  The vintage pad and weight of the gun will absorb the repetitive recoil that comes with the shotgun sports, and the long barrel, weight forward balance will keep you swinging on tough targets.  We have priced the gun reasonably and with the all original factory finishes, mirror bores, and overall great condition the gun should sell quickly, so don’t let this one get away.  Thanks for looking!
