This National Postal Meter was mfg abt 9/43-11/43 Serial No. 1959XXX. It is in excellent original type condition. The gun Metal is amedium gray parkerization
and has all of the correct parts. The stock is a medium dark shade of solid Walnut, w/no cracks, chips or dings. The handguard is the correct T1 w/2 holes and
matches. The Stock also has the correct "TN" letters imprinted in the sling well w/the correct cartouche of a blocked imprint w/the letters"NPM/FJA" and the
Cross Cannons imprinted, as well on the right side of the butt stock.
The following parts make up this most colloctible Nationl Postal Meter. (Also of note in R. C. Larson's M-1 Carbine Book he says that in his opinion "That the NPM
produced one of the highest quality carbines"...)
Receiver - T2 wSquare mill cut, Type 1 retaining lug whole for spring tube and a narrow tang, Rear Sight - Flip w/the letter "s" on it's L-side and "N-A" on it's r-side,
Barrel - Rockola w/Mirror bore (It measures "0" & w/a fine thick twist, Front Sight - W/"NN" marked, Bolt - Flat T-2 marked "UN", Firing Pin - T1 w/"N-N", Extractor -T3
Mkd "TN, Trig Hsg - T-2 w/"N". Trigger - T2 mkd "SN", Sear T1 mkd "LN", Hammer - T2 mkd"HI", Safety - T3 mkd "SN", Mag Catch - T3 mkd "MN", Oper Slide - T1
mkd "N9", Stock - High Wood, Oval Cut Mkd - w/square imprint and the letters "NPM/FJA" w/the cross cannon abt 1 inch fwd, Hand Guard - T1 w/2 holes mkd "TN",
Recoil Plate - T2 mkd "TN", Recoil Screw - Earley Short Thread, Barrel Band - T1 w/"UI" imprinted letters, Butt Plate - Orig "NPM".. It comes w/a correct period WW II T2 sling w/the "C" tiip. Also a magazine w/a rubber dust cover (Late War).
Thi National Postal Meter is to me an "NRA" Excellent and a most collectible piece.
