ORIGINAL GERMAN SPANDAU Infantry Mauser IG Mod 71/84; 8 Rd tubular magazine Bolt Action 10.99mm cal, 33" barrel in excellent, appearing in UNISSUED condition; MIRROR BRIGHT SHINY BORE; CLEAN BOLT FACE, NITER BLUE PARTS and CRISP DETAILLED CARTOUCHES AND PROOF MARKS!! with ALL MATCHING NUMBERS.
ConditionThis mod 71/84 is very similar to the mod 71 but instead of being a single shot like the 71; the 71/84 is the first repeating rifle with an 8 Rd tubular magazine. The mod71/84 were exceptionally well made. This I.G. (InfanterieGewehr) Mod 71/84 was manufactured in 1888 by Spandau factory is in ORIGINAL SUPERB condition showing well defined CRISP markings and acceptance stamps, exhibiting the highly Gothic script bearing: "I.G. (Infanterie Gewehr) Mod. 71/84" and the serial number on the left side of the receiver; 1888 year of manufacture on the rear right, and on the flat part of the barrel there is a Monarch's Cypher which could be F.W. (Fredrik Wilhelm of Prussia), the serial number, the crown and "Spandau"; 4 more other manufacture's marks and the cal designation.The rifle has ALL matching serial numbers. Original metal finish in great condition with rich dark bluing with minimal loss mixed with plumb even pleasing patina (mainly on barrel bands, one small area on top of barrel with toning aging spots). Light minimal edge wear, scratches, handling marks mainly in barrel bands with NO PITTING (except for some small areas on buttplate noted), NO RUST noted above woodline. Other parts show still the niter blue like the trigger guard- floor plate. The straight bolt and receiver are in the white as it should be with toning aging spots mixed with even pleasing patina. The BOLT FACE is clean and has NO ring markings around the firing pin hole. THE BORE is like "in NEW" condition, MIRROR BRIGHT AND SHINY with STRONG RIFLING; appearing in UNFIRED CONDITION. Front barrel band has the bayonet lug provision. Rifle includes the original cleaning rod. Stock has the ORIGINAL finish with NO CRACKS, NO GAUGES, NO CHIPS, NO REPAIRS, but very minimal scattered light handling marks, scratches, very tiny shallow bruises. It shows nice deep cartouches-inspection marks . Clean shiny chamber. Mechanically fine; cocks on close. Book pictures for reference only.
