**NEW HISTORICAL FACT ADDED REGARDING COLT AND J.D. WILLIAMS**
Magnificent Colt 4" 1849 small guard Pocket engraved and inscribed. Inscription involves two Connecticut politicians. The recipient, Arthur Calef was the State Treasurer, presented to him by the Connecticut State Adjutant General,
J.D. Williams. ** It was the same J.D. Williams that in May of 1861 appointed Samuel Colt to the rank of Colonel.** The the purpose for the appointment was short lived, but the title was used by Colt throughout the remainder of his career.
Revolver mfd in 1855. The engraving is crisp as are all other markings. Though there is no documented proof, this could be the work of Gustav Young based on the tightness of punch marks and the fact that Samuel Colt, always the entrepreneur, catered to politicians and military types.
Revolver is in mint condition with bright Colt blue and case colors with a strong cylinder scene. Some loss of blue beginning at muzzle and typical track marks at rear of cylinder. Silver on TG and BS has been cleaned and polished.
This Colt Pocket belongs in a high end collection!
