Description:
This stunning Beretta side-by-side was manufactured for the European market in 1959.  This gun reflects a hundred years of craftsmanship making side-by-side break-action shotguns before Beretta over/under shotguns began dominating the American doublegun market.  This level of excellence is captured in the extensive engraving, jeweled water table, precise milling and hand fitting of the metal parts, scalloped receiver, and Circasian-walnut stock.

The gun’s 70 cm barrels (27-1/2 inches) have 70 mm (2-3/4 inches) chambers.  The right barrel is choked improved modified (.025) and the left full (.030).  The bores, which are excellent, both measure .722 inches at 9” from the breech.  The outside diameters of both barrels are .815 inches as measured at the muzzle.  The wall thicknesses of the right barrel at 9” from the muzzle are (top/side/bottom) .049/.045/.040, and at the middle of the barrel are .048/.043/.039.  The wall thicknesses of the left barrel are .044/.040/.042/ and /042/.046/.046. respectively.  The exterior of the barrels is flawless as refinished using the traditional rust blue process.  The swivels that were originally part of the gun were removed at some point in its history.  The stock has a new hand-rubbed stock-oil finish, a 14-1/4-inch length of pull, and a neutral cast.  The DAC is 1-1/2 inches and the DAH is 2 inches. The gun weighs 6 pounds, 15 ounces.  The right trigger pulls at 4 pounds, the left at 6 pounds.  The ejectors are strong and properly timed.  The gun locks up tightly.  It throws a typical European 70/30shot pattern.   All serial numbers, C33348, match.

The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  This shotgun has been fired on the range on a number of occasions using standard target shells.  However, as for any vintage shotgun, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by his or her own gunsmith before firing.  The gun carries a 30-day warranty, during which Doublegun Preservation, LLC will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and all shipping costs.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Steve at 703-625-4830.
