Description:
This is a very nice all-original 1985 vintage Smith & Wesson Model 686 Distinguished Combat Magnum revolver in .357 Magnum.  The Model 686 is one of Smith & Wesson's most popular models and has long been known for it's good looks, excellent reliability, and superb accuracy.  These early production or "no dash" guns are sought-after by shooters and collectors alike as they display excellent fit and finish, a very smooth hand-fit action, and do not have the integral action lock that was fitted on later guns.  This double-action revolver features all stainless steel construction, a 6" inch barrel with a full underlug, a ramped front sight with a factory red insert, an adjustable micro-click rear target sight, a six-shot fluted cylinder, and factory Goncalo Alves target grips.  It has been shot but obviously has been cared for over the years.  The stainless steel shows only some very minor handling/storage marks with no scratches, pitting, or eyesores.  As you can see from the pictures, the face of the cylinder shows some flash burns that could be polished off by the new owner if he/she so chooses.  The bore in the 6" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect.  The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout, and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind.  The six chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and in excellent condition.  The factory Goncalo Alves target grips on this Model 686 are in good condition overall, showing only some light wear and handling marks.  Both sides are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and both grips are tight to the gun with zero wiggle.  The action on this Smith is very smooth and perfectly "in time" whether it is worked in single or double-action, fast or slow.  All of the controls on this gun are in perfect working order and the trigger is excellent, breaking cleanly with a light pull without any grit or slop.  This Model 686 should function perfectly just like the day it originally left the factory 35 years ago.  If you have been looking for a great all-purpose .357 Magnum revolver that would be at home in the field or at the range, this 1985-production Smith & Wesson Model 686 Distinguished Combat Magnum would be an excellent choice.
