Description:
BRITISH FLINTLOCK BRASS OCTAGON BARREL CAVALRY OFFICER’S PISTOL SIGNED SHARPE/LONDON CIRCA 1810. 14 “ o/a with 8” octagon .69 cal. smoothbore barrel. Type purchased by various American States from British makers for their mounted militias. Original flintlock (not a reconversion) example with nicely engraved brass mounts probably intended for use by an officer. Handsome “PINEAPPLE” trigger guard finial. Used the same standard cast .69 caliber ball as the U.S. Model 1795 Musket. Very good overall and all original. Lock signed “SHARPE” and barrel “LONDON”. Barrel stamped with Birmingham proofs at the left breech. Working order and good bore. Old hickory ramrod a period replacement.
