BRITISH 2ND MODEL BROWN BESS 1872 GRICE FLINTLOCK MUSKET "ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS" .75CAL MADE FOR BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION CIRCA 1976. 58" overall with 42" barrel. Interesting Italian made reproduction of the famous Brown Bess musket sold exclusively for only 811 (no. of men in the regiment that stormed Bunker Hill) special recipients who ordered them with their name engraved on the buttplate. At an original cost of $585 you could buy one of these to raise funds for the upcoming Bicentennial events. This means these were offered for sale a number of years prior. The idea was to raise funds for all the original major cities festivities that were to happen in 1976. First rate quality typical of 1970's Italian craftmanship. Lock marked "Grice 1762" as well as Crown over GR(George III). Barrel and lock in the white(as they should be) and appears unfired. Stock excellent. Brass buttplate indeed marked with original recipient's name as well as Royal Welsh Fulsiliers coat of arms and the number 509 which means this is the 509th musket of 811 original made for Bicentennial commission. Much online about the requisition of these as well as other implements to raise funds for all the major cities planning on having events come 1976. Mint bore and touch-hole so shootable.
