EXTRA FINE YUGO OR YUGOSLAVIAN MAUSER M48 BO 8X57 UNMARKED RIFLE WITH IRAQI MARKINGS. "BO" means "bez oznke" and were meant for export to mostly middle eastern arab countries where it was not required to mark their origin. Probably Iraqi with candy cane stamp in circle mark known as a "Jeem" and stamped profusely on all metal blued surfaces crisply with no shallow marks so probably not reblue. All matching including bolt and stock. Cherry's import stamp under barrel just rear of muzzle. Mint bore and rifling which follows suit since the rest of the rifle is pretty well unused. Cleaning rod and sight hood. Some surface crud on buttplate will clean to nil. Tight lockup of bolt. Many of these were encountered in Iraq as 8x57 ammo could still found there and supplemented Iraqi longer range capability in answer to the cheaply made AK's. Fun addition to Mauser collection and a shooter with its mint bore.
