30/06 HOWE RIFLE
A 1927 James Howe (of Griffin & Howe fame) original in 30/06. Springfield action. Beautiful stock. And it's a stone cold killer. This gun loves Remington's 220 grainers. Yes it's a curio/relic, but it also is an accurate hunting machine. No scope. No problem! I've taken several whitetail and hogs with this without fail. It works as good as it did when it rolled out of Howe's shop ninety-three years ago. The wood has a few dings but I'd put it at 95%. The metal has a cool, worn bluing, that you can only get when you're 93yrs old. The bore is excellent. The LOP is 13 1/4". Barrel length is 23 1/2". It has the standard G&H sidemount but doesn't not come with scope or scope rings. It sports a Lyman 48 receiver sight that is dead on at 100yds. This rifle is a gem. In addition, it is also featured in Mike Petrov's writings on Custom Gunmakers of the 20th Century.
