The old man looked at me hard. His nostrils flared and his eyes darkened. All I'd asked was if I could try the action on his classic Colt - but beads of sweat broke out on his upper lip and there was a long uncomfortable silence as he considered the indecent proposal...
This 4" Python has an early V-prefix serial number that dates it to 1978. Condition is....well....just perfect. The famous Royal Blue finish that Colt perfected is deep and dark and you could brush your teeth in its reflection. There is only one very minor spot on the right edge of the muzzle that could be called "holster wear" (see highlight in photo). Hard to see if you're not looking for it. Gun was probably fired after it left the factory - but it couldn't have been more than a few test shots. This example has spent the last 35+ years as a safe queen. Rick rarely let this one see daylight. There's virtually no turn line on the cylinder. Grips are perfect. Glossy finish with deep, clean checkering, nice grain, and no scratches. Rick hated to let me do it but he did allow me to try the action (just once) as I was taking the pictures. Cocking the hammer slowly on this Python just brings a smile to your face as you experience the finest precision revolver America ever produced. Factory single-action trigger is just about 3.5lbs.
Only thing missing from this offering is the original box etc - so the price reflects that. This is a chance to get a perfect 4" Python for less than $3k. You will not find a better example of this gun.
