Shipped from Colt to Meachams Arms Co, St. Louis Mo. Feb 15, 1883. It was manufactured nickel plated but since Colt did not
pre-strike, (nickel on steel is temporary at best), there are no traces of the plating. S&W pre-plated before nickel which is why
nckel antique S&W's are often 100%. This SAA is mechanically perfect, serial numbers match, grips are original and show no wear.
(In 1882-1883 Colt switched grip material from wood to black hard rubber.) My opinion: This is the best example of an original 157
year old, all original SAA at this price.
