I am offering number 1,409 of the 7,000 Model 1886 45-70s made by Miroku in 1986 for Browning (see ://proofhouse/browning/58_dating_sys.htm for serial number interpretation). These guns were reintroduced in commemoration of the 100-year mark of the release of John Browning’s original Winchester-made guns. They were a big hit in 1986, and many variations followed but none like this one. If you would like to read more, please see pages 63 to 65 in “Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West.” I purchased the rifle 15 years ago from the original owner who displayed it in his gun shop. I shot it lightly with my family and friends and carried it afield during several elk and deer hunts, but it has spent most of the time in my safe. The rifle is in 99% condition. The pictures fully represent the finish issues on the heel and toe of the butt plate. The rifle did not come to me with a box or paper work.
