Description:

Joslyn Civil War breech-loading rifle. In 50-60-450 Rimfire (also accepts 56-50 Spencer Rimfire) Bore is very good plus with strong rifling and mostly bright bore. Many Civil War weapons saw heavy service and expedient field repairs were necessary. This is one of those with such a repair. At the underside of the butt stock at the toe was an area of gouged out wood. The soldier, I assume, put in a piece of leather and tack nailed in place. Such repairs are usually left as they are as they are part of the history of the rifle. We could have easily removed the repair and replaced the gouged-out wood, but we chose not to do that. The action works perfectly.
