Description:
1886 OCTAGON RIFLE, .40-65 CALIBER, #121955. This is a particularly nice example showing good barrel blue that is ageing/mixing a little plum, but still retains good color. Mag tube shows fine blue and there is fine blue on the bolt. Receiver is mostly a gray/brown with good screw heads and no signs of cleaning or steel wooling. Barrel shows exc. markings and is fitted with a small folding one-leaf Lyman rear sight paired with a typical Winchester blade front sight. Fine+ stock and forend with very tight wood to metal fit. The butt stock has a couple of initials very lightly scratched in which would be easy to rub out or just leave as is- you have to look carefully to see them. Best of all, the bore is excellent, bright and sharp! Tight action and strong springs. Really attractive rifle.
