EARLY, ANTIQUE SERIAL NUMBER 1894 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN DESIRABLE .38-55 CALIBER, #26XXX, MADE 1897. These antique 1894 Saddle Ring Carbines are hard to find in any caliber with .38-55 being especially hard to acquire. Interestingly, this one has the early style hook-eye sling swivels correctly located with the front one in the barrel band. Complete with hooks and very old leather sling. Barrel blue is heavily mixing plum and brown with fine markings and some light uncleaned surface freckling in one small area on the left side of the barrel. Mag tube shows good ageing blue. Receiver shows good blue in the protected areas and around the saddle ring with the balance mainly turning to brown. Nice screw heads and good blue on the loading gate. Fine+ walnut butt stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit. Retains the correct ladder carbine rear sight with slide intact. Has a surprisingly excellent bore! All .38-55 caliber carbines are tough to locate and this antique 1894 carbine is a fine one.
