While most Russell Green River knives were configured as butcher or carving knives, this is the more rare Bowie style with a 6 inch spear point blade, brass cross guard, and concave stag handles. The blade is marked "J. RUSSELL & CO./GREEN RIVER WORKS" in three lines, and dates about 1845. These early Green River knives are hard to find in good condition.
