Here we have a “Turnbull-ized” Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Takedown in .45-70 Govt. Originally finished and shipped in 2010, this big bore lever action is a precursor to the present-day Turnbull Finished line of production firearms. We’re happy to have this Winchester back in our showroom as we find a new home for it.
Overall, this Winchester is in like new condition, as it was not fired by the previous owner. Metal finishes include Turnbull signature bone charcoal color case hardening on receiver, lever, hammer, crescent butt plate and forend cap. Barrel, magazine tube and trim are all Winchester factory hot blued. The factory grade 3 buttstock and forend were both hand refinished by Turnbull in classic Winchester red. Buttstock shows some minor handling marks. Work in 2010 also included tang safety conversion.
