This Carbine has the barrel date of 11-43. The carbine's serial number is 3617420. The barrel is a Underwood produced aforementioned dated barrel. Underwood was one of the barrel suppliers for Saginaw Gear. All of the gun parts are Saginaw Gear [S'G'] Grand Rapids produced. The high wood stock is a Saginaw Gear RSG coded stock for Saginaw Gear Saginaw Michigan. The recoil plate is also for Saginaw Gear Saginaw Michigan. The S'G' coded parts are correct for the firearm for the serial number range and production date. This gun has seen service use and wear, The bore is bright and sharp. The parts show wear consistant with each other showing that they were always together. The sights are also correct for this gun. The rear sight has no stake marks. The barrel shows no sign of ever having a type three barrel band installed. This carbine came this way from a very serious collection. Usually you do not see the stock from Saginaw Michigan fitted to a Saginaw Gear gun from Grand Rapids Michigan. This is a very nice unusual honest service used carbine that should interest a collector. Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids Carbines are rare today as they only produced around 2% of the carbine production during the war.
