Description:
This is a beautiful 1952-production Winchester Model 64 lever-action rifle chambered in .30-30 Winchester.  First introduced in 1933, the pre-64 version of the Winchester Model 64 was offered in 4 calibers and three barrel lengths, and remained in production until 1957.  The Model 64 lever-action repeater features a gloss-blue factory finish, a revamped Model 55 action, a 3/4 length magazine tube, a 20", 24", or 26" inch round barrel, and a smooth American Walnut pistol grip stock set.  The Winchester Model 64 was well-received by shooters and proved to be an excellent weapon that was reliable, handsome, and very accurate.  This particular Model 64 was made in 1952 and is serial number 1873862.  It features a 24" inch round barrel and is chambered in .30-30 Winchester.  It is in excellent condition overall, and has only been lightly used and well-cared for.  The factory blue finish is bright and clean, showing only some very minor handling marks and finish wear, mainly on the high edges.  The factory front sight is in place and fully intact with the original sight hood, and the rear sight has been replaced with a Williams sight blank.  The receiver has been fit with a period Lyman Model 66LA peep sight, which is in excellent condition.  There are no extra drilled and tapped holes in this receiver, the receiver sight is mounted on factory drilled and tapped holes that came standard on this model.  The bore in this Model 64 is excellent, free from any pitting, erosion, or imperfections.  The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel.  The original American Walnut stock set on this rifle is in great shape and is very attractive.  Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents, and all of the original stock hardware is still in place and in very good condition including the checkered steel buttplate.  The only alteration to this Winchester since leaving the factory is a set of period sling swivels have been fit.  The upper sling swivel is a clamp-on type on the magazine tube, while the lower sling swivel is screwed into the buttstock itself.  As you can see from the pictures, these sling swivels are very nice and look proper on the gun.  The action on this Model 64 is slick and and tight with a very precise fit between the bolt and frame.  All of the controls on this Winchester are in perfect working order, and we have no doubt that this rifle will function just as well today as the day it left the factory 68 years ago.  If you have been looking for a nice pre-64 Winchester lever action for your collection this Model 64 would be an excellent choice.  We don't run across these too often in such nice condition without extra holes in the receiver.
