Description:
Quite simply the nicest all-original and un-molested WW2 K-98 Mauser we have had in a long time.  This K-98 is stamped "bcd 43" for the German Military wartime code for the Gustloff Werke firm's production during 1943.  This K-98 is 100% original and all-matching, the exact configuration in which it left the factory and was brought to the States as a war trophy.   Every single numbered part on this rifle is matching and original, including both the stock and the handguard.  The original factory blue finish is in great shape overall, and shows only light wear and a beautiful and consistent aged patina on all of the parts.  It was obviously carried in combat but was cared for and not neglected.  All of the factory markings and German Military Waffenamts are crisp and clear everywhere they are present.  The receiver ring is stamped with a Nazi Eagle over "749" and the code "bcd" over "43".  The left side of the receiver is stamped with the serial number "9672 aa" and "Mod. 98" in block-style letters.  The original bolt in this K-98 is in excellent condition and shows very little wear from use.  The bolt is all-matching with the full serial number on the bolt handle root, and all of the small parts numbered with "9672" except for the extractor which just has the last two digits "72".  The triggerguard housing on this rifle is a stamped abnd fabricated model with a milled floorplate, with both parts numbered to the gun.  Of note is that the floorplate has a small number "1" stamped above the serial number, the same small number "1" that is stamped on the magazine follower (which is not serial numbered).  Both the barrel and receiver are stamped with a Nazi Eagle firing proof on this "bcd 43".  The bore in this K-98 is excellent, mirror-bright with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling throughout the barrel.  There is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections.  The original stock on this rifle is a beautiful red-glue "C" marked variation, which is stamped with a "C" on the keel of the butt along with a Waffenamt that is partially visible.  It is free from any cracks, major damage, or repairs, and both the handguard and buttstock are serial numbered in the underside barrel channels.  This stock shows no signs of being sanded or "improved" in any way, it is 100% original.  The red-glue laminate wood shows some small handling and storage marks but no major dings/damage.  As you can see from the pictures, this is a very handsome original stock.  All of the original stock hardware is intact and in good condition on this K-98.  The upper barrel band is a solid speed milled model, and the lower band is also a milled model.  Both bands are stamped with the serial number without the letter suffixes, "9672".  The original bayonet lug/stock end-cap is un-numbered but marked with an "e", and the bolt take-down disc and buttplate are un-numbered and un-marked, which is correct.  This beautiful Gustloff Werke K-98 comes complete with the original cleaning rod, front sight hood, and WW2 original German Military leather sling.  The action on this K-98 is smooth and precise, and turns into battery perfectly.  All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order.  This WW2 K-98 should function 100% like the day it left the factory in 1943.  If you have been looking for a true "collector grade" K-98 for your collection that would be next to impossible to upgrade from, this Gustloff Werke "bcd 43" would be an excellent choice.  With all-original and un-molested K-98's harder to find than ever, this is truly an exceptional rifle and should be a superb long-term investment.
