1951 SMITH & WESSON PRE 23 MODEL OF 1950 .38/44 OUTDOORSMAN 4" TARGET .38 SPECIAL REVOLVER. Serial number "S81XXX" and all matching including cylinder, butt, crane and barrel. Grips are period but replaced. 5 screw frame. Adjustable target rear sight and correct partridge front. Mint bore, rifling and chambers. 90% of the original factory blue remains with balance at edges, cylinder, triggerguard and some very minor carry wear(see photos). Case color still on original hammer and trigger. Screws excellent. One of approx 6,000 made. Rare to find 4" versions. Continued as the Model 23 after 1957.
