Description:
This is a beautiful 100% original and correct late World War 2 M1 Carbine made by Inland in 1944.  We have been thru this gun from top to bottom and every single part in it is correct according to the Comprehensive Guide M1 Carbine by R.C. Larsen, and all of the parts show a consistent degree of wear/patina.  This Inland is a 3rd Block Production gun serial number 5387218, made between the Spring and Fall of 1944.  These 3rd Block guns are interesting in that they generally show a mix of mid-war and late-war features.  The "early" features on this Inland are the push-button safety and magazine release, while the "late" features include the low-wood stock, 4 rivet handguard, Type 2 barrel band, Type 3 fabricated adjustable rear sight, Type 4 slide, and Type 3 round bolt.  This Inland is in very good to excellent condition overall.  The original factory parkerized finish is a very attractive green-gray color, and shows only minor wear and handling marks rating 95%.  Most of the actual finish wear that is present is on the right side of the receiver where the operating rod makes metal to metal contact when the bolt is worked.  As you can see from the pictures, this wear is not an eyesore and does very little to detract from the clean overall look of the gun.  The barrel, trigger housing, and remainder of receiver show no finish wear to speak of, only a few tiny handling marks. The blued round bolt in this Inland shows some finish wear on the upper surface from contact with the receiver but still shows a lot of bright blue in the protected areas and little to no mechanical wear.  The various finishes on the trigger, rear sight, and assorted small parts are all in excellent condition.  The bore in this M1 Carbine is mirror-bright and in excellent condition.  The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel, and there is no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections of any kind.  The original Inland factory stock on this M1 Carbine is really beautiful and in excellent condition.  The handguard and buttstock are both free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  Both pieces of American Walnut are a beautiful red-brown color, with the handguard a slightly darker tone.  The buttstock is nicely marked with a crisp and clear "IO" in the sling well, and the right side of the butt has a clean and crisp large U.S. Ordnance Wheel cartouche.  The 4-rivet handguard is marked on the underside edge with a "HI'.  All of the stock hardware is intact, original, and in excellent overall condition.  The action on this M1 Carbine is slick and smooth, and there is no slop in it when in battery.  We checked the headspace and it is in-spec.  All of the controls on this carbine are in perfect working order, and we have no doubt that this "War Baby" will function just as reliably today as it did when it left the factory 76 years ago.  This Inland comes complete with a very nice original WW2 U.S.G.I.sling and oiler, and a WW2-production "IS" marked 15-round magazine.  If you have been looking for an "investment grade" World War 2 M1 Carbine for your collection this 1944 Inland would be an excellent choice.  Very seldom do we get carbines like this one that are completely untouched since leaving the factory, and even scarcer still are untouched carbines in such beautiful condition.  It would be extremely hard to upgrade from this all-original Inland.
