Description:
This an A-Square rifle chambered in the powerful 500 A-Square round. The 500A2 is a necked up 460 Weatherby case, and can launch a 570gr bullet at almost 2,500 fps or a 600gr at slightly less velocity. It can handle any game animal on the planet. It is a perfect caliber for hunting Elephant and Cape Buffalo.
The "Coil-Chek" stock, while not pretty, does an outstanding job of mitigating recoil in big calibers. The butt is not only tall but also wide, and has probably twice the surface area of a normal rifle, to spread out recoil forces over a larger area.
This rifle wears upgraded wood and a high polish blue reminiscent of the older Weatherby "black mirror" bluing. It has a Timney trigger and magazine floorplate. The rifle weighs 11 1/2 lbs, which with the Coil-Check stock, makes shooting the rifle quite manageable. LOP is 14", and the barrel is 26". The rifle has a Williams express rear sight and a ramped front sight with a bronze bead.
I have ammunition we could work into a deal, as well as several load recipes for 450 to 600gr bullets. The image of the ammunition shows 500A2 600gr Woodleigh loads compared to a 308 round for comparison.
