Description:

Colt 1860 Army Model .44 Caliber U.S. Army Issue. This is a very colorful Army Colt. Notice the cut out holes in the bottom of the grips. This was for a leather thong for the soldier to cinch up to his wrist so as to not drop the pistol from his horse in the heat of battle. These “field” alterations were mostly for Cavalry as they were apt to be in a situation where he could drop or lose the revolver from the holster. We have sold at least a dozen or more 1860 Colts with the exact same field alteration. There are initials “C.J.” on the trigger guard, which has untouched patina. This revolver has a good bore with strong rifling. The action works and indexes perfectly. Numbers match except the wedge. Grip cartouches are worn but visible. Barrel address is excellent and sharp. Overall this is a well-cared for Colt with no abuse! Neat revolver with Cavalry use!
