Description:
The Official Police was fine-tuned version of the then current Colt Police Positive revolver. The changes included adding checkering to the trigger, matting the topstrap of the frame and widening the rear sight groove. Colt also upgraded the quality of the gun's finish from a dull blued finish to a high polished blue. It was offered in 4, 5 and 6 inch barrel versions. Built on Colt's “I” frame and was offered in a variety of chamberings including .22 LR, .32-20, .41 Long Colt, and .38 Special. It sported Colt's “Positive Lock” firing pin block safety, which prevents the firing pin from striking the primer unless the trigger was deliberately pulled. This example has 80% of its high polish blue. There is wear on the right side of the barrel and on the high points of the pistol. The mechanical locking is tight. The bore is bright with strong visible rifling. The grips sport a nice fine checkering which shows a nice wear. The hammer has some frosting where it has been used over time, but it still sports its original high polish shine. This is an excellent used example of a fine Colt revolver and a nice piece for a collection.
