Description:
This is a French made Verney-Carron over under double rifle chambered in 8x57JRS. This is basically the Mauser 8mm cartridge, but rimmed, so the case can be ejected. This rifle is brand new. It has been fired for European proofing purposes only. The rifle only weighs 6 lbs 9 oz. Recoil is about the same as a German 8mm Mauser 98K.This is the perfect pig gun, even though the 8mm caliber will take anything in North America. The ballistics are very similar to 30-06. The finish is a classic Case Hardening to give the rael color, not done with chemicals as so many are these days. This is hard to find, especially in this price range.The rifle comes as sold from the factory in a plastic case with two cloth sacks for the barrel and the action. The fore end is stored separately. It also has a proofing certificate and the factory target.The wood is beautiful and the rifle is a dream. The stock dimensions are: LOP 14¾, drop at comb 1½ and drop at heel 2". The price of Verney - Carron is much more competitive than say a Holland and Holland, or other luxury brands. The quality is however superbe. Most of their rifles start at $ 15,000 or higher, depending on the caliber and decore. What impresed me the most on this rifle is that when it is brought up into your shoulder, it is right on target. The front and rear sight are perfectly aligned. I never had this on any other gun, except custom ones. This is a special run Verney Carron made, so there are only two available.
