Description:
Winchester Model of 1873 Sporting Rifle .44-40 with factory 24 inch factory Octagon Barrel. The serial number of this example is 326XX placing date of manufacture in 1879. Overall condition of this rifle is very good with the original untouched factory finish toned to a brown/plum patina. The bore is dark with all the rifling present as expected from an early black powder firearm. The bore is good and shootable, needs a good scrubbing with some Hope's #9. At present the bore will rate a 6 on a 1to 10 scale. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is perfect with some varnish added. Will make a great shooter!
