Here we present an antique Belgian Percussion Boot Pistol, made circa 1850 in Liege. Liege has long been a manufacturing center for the world’s arms trade. This small type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and into the 19th Centuries, in Europe, as well as the colonies. They could be easily stowed in a pocket or a boot. They were, of course, made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside.
This one features a twist pattern barrel and light engraving.
The overall condition is Good. The action is strong. The bore is dark and dusty with age. A neat piece of history from the Continent!
