Description:
This is a beautiful all-original and limited production Thompson Center Hawken Cougar .50 caliber muzzleloader in excellent condition. Made for only 2 years with 5000 rifles made each year in 1987 and 1992, the T/C Hawken Cougar features a two-tone finish with a gloss-blued octagon barrel mated to a satin stainless steel lock in a presentation-grade American Black Walnut stock with satin stainless steel fittings. This special edition Hawken was offered in .45 and .50 caliber only, and featured a large satin stainless "Hawken Cougar" medallion inlaid into the right side of the buttstock and factory-installed adjustable double-set triggers. The factory iron sights consist of a dovetailed front blade with a windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. This particular example is serial number 11617 and is chambered in .50 caliber. As mentioned previously, it is in excellent condition inside and out and is likely unfired since leaving the factory. If not for a few very tiny little handling/storage marks it would be flat mint. The factory blue finish on the barrel and iron sights rates 98%, while the satin stainless parts also rate 98%. The bore is mirror-bright and pristine, showing sharp rifling throughout the barrel and no visible imperfections, wear, or erosion. There is no evidence of this rifle ever having been fired inside or out. The nipple is clean and in perfect condition, as-is the pan in which it is mounted. The American Black Walnut stock is gorgeous, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents. The stock shows a lot of contrasting color and beautiful figure from the butt all the way thru the stock to the forend. Often, only the buttstock portion will show nice figure, this stock has it all the way thru from one end to the other. All of the factory stock hardware is intact and in excellent condition, including the crescent buttplate and factory Hawken Cougar medallion. This Thompson Center Cougar is exactly how it left the factory, nothing has been altered, added, or "improved" in any way. The lock is in perfect working order with both the half-cock and full-cock positions intact, and the adjustable double-set triggers are in perfect working order. If you have been looking for a classy and unique muzzleoader for your collection this T/C Hawken Cougar would be an excellent choice. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this beauty.
